7 Delicious Recipes Using Chocolate Protein Powder

1. CLASSIC CHOCOLATE BROWNIES

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Makes about 12 brownies

Ingredients
150g/6oz Chocolate whey powder
115g/4 ½ oz castor sugar
2 medium eggs
50g/ 2oz butter
3 tablespoons of milk
150g/ 6oz plain flour

Method
1.    Place the chocolate whey protein powder, and sugar in a bowl and sift in the plain flour.
2.    Chop the butter into small cubes and add to the dry ingredients. Cream these together.
3.    Add the beaten egg and the milk and mix well to form a thick mixture.
4.    Grease a baking tin, approximately 5 x 8 inches in size.
5.    Pour in the mixture and smooth it to form an even layer.
6.    Place in a pre-heated oven at 160C, for one hour.
7.    Remove and allow to cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire cooling rack.
8.    Cut into squares and serve.

 

2. DOUBLE CHOC-MINT SMOOTHIE

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Serves 1

Ingredients
½ pint milk
50g/2oz chocolate whey powder
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
8 fresh mint leaves
4 large ice cubes

Method
1.    Simply put all the ingredients into a blender and blitz for 1-2 minutes until smooth
2.    Pour into a glass and enjoy.

3. HEALTHY CHOCOLATE and BANANA PANCAKES

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes about 8 breakfast pancakes

Ingredients
75g/3oz porridge oats
100g/4oz cottage cheese
½ ripe banana
50g/2oz chocolate whey powder
3 medium eggs

Method
1.    Blitz the oats in a food processor until they form a coarse powder.
2.    Add the rest of the ingredients to the processor and mix to form a batter.
3.    Heat a frying pan with a little bit of rape seed oil.
4.    Pour about 1/8 of the mixture into the centre of the pan and cook for about 5 minutes on each side.
5.    Repeat until you have 8 delicious pancakes.

4. DOUBLE CHOCOLATE ICE-CREAM

Preparation time: 30 minutes.
Cooking time: 20 minutes.
Makes 10 portions

Ingredients
4 pints full cream milk
50g/2oz chocolate whey powder
2 teaspoons vanilla essence
½ pint fresh double cream
25g/1 oz custard powder
250g/ 10 oz caster sugar
50g/2oz dark chocolate broken into chips

Method
1.    Mix the chocolate whey powder and custard powder with a little milk to form a thin paste.
2.    Heat the rest of the milk in a saucepan until it just starts to boil.
3.    Add the paste and simmer gently for 4 minutes
4.    Allow the mixture to cool and add the vanilla essence, cream and chocolate chips
5.    Place the mix in an ice-cream maker, or
6.    Place the mixture in a deep container with a lid in the freezer. Remove every 30 minutes and stir vigorously then put back. Continue until ice cream is solid but scoopable

5. CHOCOLATE ENERGY BARS

Preparation time: 20 minutes.
Makes 12 bars

Ingredients
4 fl oz milk
225g/9oz crunchy peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
200g/8oz Chocolate whey powder
300g/ 12 oz porridge oats
55g/2oz milk chocolate broken into chips

Method
1.    Place the peanut butter, honey and milk in a saucepan and warm gently
2.    Add the chocolate whey powder and mix thoroughly
3.    Mix in the oats, keeping the mixture warm but not cooking it
4.    Lightly grease a 10 x 12” baking tray and fill with the mix
5.    When it has cooled slightly sprinkle with chocolate chips and press them in
6.    Chill in a refrigerator and the cut into 12 bars

6. QUICK CHOCOLATE PUDDINGS

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Serves 4

Ingredients
1 pint milk
150g/6oz castor sugar
200g/8oz chocolate whey powder
8 slices brown bread, cut into cubes
800g/12oz chopped fresh fruit

Method
1.    Heat the milk in a saucepan and add the sugar and chocolate whey powder
2.    Add the bread and then blend the mixture leaving it quite coarse
3.    Allow to cool and gently mix in the fruit
4.    Place into 4 serving dishes, garnish with more fruit and chill before serving

7. CHOCOLATE SHORTBREAD

Preparation Time: 15 minutes plus 1 hour to chill
Cooking Time: 12 minutes
Makes 26 biscuits

Ingredients
200g/8oz plain flour
50g/2oz Chocolate whey powder
175g/ 7oz butter
85g/ 3 ½ oz castor sugar
100g/4oz chocolate chips

Method
1.    Cream the butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl
2.    Sift in the flour and chocolate whey protein powder
3.    Start mixing by hand and when almost combined add the chocolate chips
4.    Roll the dough into a log about 5cm diameter and chill for at least 1 hour
5.    Cut the log into 1cm thick slices and place on a greased baking tray
6.    Bake in a pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes at 160C
